A TYPICAL DAY AT CAMP LAUGHING LOON
Camp Laughing Loon offers a wide range of activities designed to engage young minds and bodies while nurturing lasting friendships. It brings back the joy of old-fashioned summer camp fun—time spent outdoors, enjoying nature, playing, working together, and creating lifelong memories.
At CLL Summer Day Camp in East Waterboro, Maine, campers take part daily in archery, arts & crafts, swimming lessons, field games, sports, nature exploration, drama, canoeing, and much more!
No two days at camp are ever the same. Each one is filled with excitement, laughter, and unique adventures. Below is a glimpse into a “day in the life” of a Camp Laughing Loon camper—but be ready, because surprises are part of the fun!
When campers arrive, they’re assigned to small groups based on grade level. Each group is led by two or more enthusiastic, college-aged counselors—many of whom return year after year.
The day begins beneath the shaded pine trees with a flag-raising ceremony, introductions, and announcements. Then it’s time for Free Option, where campers choose from a variety of activities—maybe a game of Dodge Goal or Predator and Prey, or perhaps a new craft project.
At 10:30 a.m., groups begin rotating through our five core activities: arts & crafts, swimming lessons, sports & games, canoeing, and nature/drama. After two morning sessions, campers gather at the lodge overlooking Little Ossipee Lake to enjoy lunch from home—on the porch or at the picnic tables—before relaxing and chatting with friends.
After lunch comes a camp favorite: Camp Sing on the hill, where voices rise in songs that will stick in your head (and your heart) for years to come. Then it’s time for three more activity periods before free swim and hill games—always a highlight of the afternoon.
Surrounded by water on three sides, there’s no better place to splash, swim, and play.
The day closes as it began—with a flag ceremony and time to reflect and share. Campers head home smiling, knowing they’ve experienced something truly special—something that’s been part of Camp Laughing Loon’s tradition since 1917.
Because some memories can only be made here.
